Taking advantage of the positive changes in his routine, Nate begins to believe that everything is returning to normal. However, upon visiting his old house, he realizes that even the smallest decision can have major consequences. What seemed like a simple visit quickly turns into a nightmare, revealing secrets and threatening everything he believed was returning to normal.

While trying to recover from a fight with his mother, Nate discovers something about her that could trigger major chaos. And with Maddy's help, the two get closer and closer to making it happen. He also finds himself caught between the present and memories of an old flame that deeply affected him emotionally and psychologically.

With a nudge, Nate manages to get closer to the answers he so desperately seeks about Alice. As the pieces fall into place and the investigation progresses, Alice realizes she needs to act, even if it means making a drastic decision.
